This expansion consists of a new main entry, reception, staff briefing room, central control center, intake area, infirmary, receiving, kitchen, dining room, parenting module, and six cell wings ranging in security from medium to close custody to maximum.  Teamwork and communication between various user groups was of utmost importance as challenges of limited site space, efficient function, and security were considered.

The many design challenges were met with innovative responses and personal and sensitive care.  The Montana Women’s Prison expansion reflects the extensive planning and cooperation of the many groups involved.
